This song is better than sex. The first and best trance song to ever exist, and in this reviewer's opinion, one of if not the best electronic tracks of all time (this includes the entire discographies of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Autechre, and Aphex Twin).Calling the pioneers of trance 'one hit wonders' is incredibly short sighted. Most of them were one hit wonders because they were experimenting with a new sound, a sound that only Quench managed to take from proto-trance techno acid to the new genre we know today as trance (don't even pretend trance existed before 1993; that was techno and rave). Every single trance track since then is inspired by Quench - Dreams, the ultimate trance masterpiece.
This is what you call a 'One hit wonder' Dreams is such a marvellous track I don't understand why C.J. Dolan (is this his real name or is there maybe C.J. DBoland behind) did only one hit.he had the potential to become the best trance producder of the nineties but with only one release he could not defend the title!also the fact that this appeard on an R&S sub-label I think there is some other C.J.
Involed.and I have to correct myself. Just saw that he was involed in Chromium – Chrome which is of course another milestone in trance history so at least a two hit wonder:).
This is still an amazing track, was released originally in 1993 and I think I didn't notice it until 1998 or so when I heard the Tony De Vit Remix on swedish radio and was very intrigued with the track. Heard the original some years later and thought that de vit had destroyed the track with his remix. The original version has an atmospheric intro and then goes into a rough beat with a killer bassline, it chugs along and introduces some bells and then after the track has built on, the bells play out a melody and goes into a very small break where an awesome riff is introduced. After that the track kicks into high gear and then takes you by storm. The only new version on this release is the Space Mix which gives a false impression of it being an ambient version in the beginning but really it's just a lighter yet 'trippier' take. It doesn't have the riff from the original, instead you get whirly hypnotic synths along with the bells which works aswell. The Crunched Mixes are also good. The Up version is the trancier take with it's chugging beat and synths whirling around the track and introduces the big riff in a good manner around 5minutes in and closes with it aswell.
